Barrinha de Mira!

Alguns vídeos de divulgação da Barrinha de Mira, feitos por mim há alguns meses atrás, utilizando fotografias e vídeos captados por mim em 2007 e 2009.

A Barrinha de Mira é uma lagoa costeira portuguesa, localizada na Praia da Mira, a cerca de 250 metros de distância do Oceano Atlântico. Apesar de se localizar muito próxima do mar, a Barrinha de Mira é uma lagoa de água doce, continuamente alimentada por algumas pequenas ribeiras.

Esta lagoa costeira é o que resta de um lento processo natural milenar de acumulação e formação de bancos de areia, que levou à sua separação do mar, seguido de um outro processo natural de contínuo e lento assoreamento. Nos últimos dois séculos, verificou-se um intenso processo contínuo de aterro e recuperação de terras pelo homem, para obter terrenos para habitação ou agricultura; que só terá parado há uns 10/20 anos atrás (???)  e que diminuiu de forma considerável a área ocupada pela Barrinha de Mira.

The Barrinha de Mira is a portuguese coastal lagoon, located in Praia da Mira (Mira Beach), some 250 meters away from the Atlantic Ocean. Altough very near the sea, the Barrinha de Mira is a fresh water lagoon, fed continuously by some small streams.

The current area of the lagoon is what remains of a natural process of centuries of slow aggradation. This process was accelerated in the last two centuries, by an intense land reclamation by man, to get and convert land for habitation or agriculture. Also, some transportation and leisure infrastructures were made.

Num mundo globalizado que tende a uniformizar tudo, desde a Economia até à Cultura; e num País que sofreu uma forte transformação nos últimos 30/40 anos, com aspectos positivos e negativos; algo de único, interessante, original, tradicional, histórico ou bonito ainda vai existindo neste canto do país, a Sub-Região da Gândara! Mas por quanto tempo?

Mas interessa igualmente focar o actual, o moderno, o progresso, o novo, o futuro, as tendências, as modas, etc...

Este blog irá mostrar várias visões, ideias, fotografias e vídeos do autor, funcionando em conjunto com o site Visões da Gândara.

Welcome visitor! This is my first message in this blog, Visões da Gândara (Visions of Gândara). I also have a website in construction, related with this blog (Visões da Gândara), but still without an english version.

I lived almost all my life, since birth and childhood, in the Gândara, a small traditional sub-region inserted in the larger portuguese region of Beira Litoral. Is a piece of land that i like, from wich i have good knowledge, and so, i want to share some of its aspects with you, dear visitor.

This tradicional sub-region was historically agrarian, rural and underdeveloped (and so a big source of emigration for other countries and regions), but, in the last 30-40 years, faced some enourmous transformations and changes, as also happened with Portugal in a larger scale. Today Gândara is in an intermediate situation; with some, but still far from full development. And as the whole world, is also facing the world globalization process, who have positive aspects, but also tends to standardize everything, from Economics to the Culture.

As the Gandâra is a sub-region in an intermediate development situation, is a place of contrasts; who still retains many of its traditional, unique, original, historical, interesting or beautifull aspects. This is the "old and new" Gândara that i will show in this blog, through personal texts, ideas, photographs or videos.
