Apresento aqui algumas fotografias que tirei àquele que penso ser o "último dos Palheiros originais" da Praia da Tocha. Como referi no meu post anterior, ainda restam alguns Palheiros na Praia da Tocha. Contudo, quase todos são, ou réplicas modernas, ou construções de características "híbridas", de transição entre os velhos Palheiros e as habitações modernas.
Curiosamente, este velho Palheiro não se localiza na Praia da Tocha. Repousa num campo agrícola, a Oeste da Caniceira (localidade da Freguesia da Tocha), uns 7-8 quilómetros longe do mar e a uns 9-10 quilómetros de distância do seu lugar de construção original, o antigo "Bairro dos Caniceiros" da Praia da Tocha.
Há uns anos atrás, os últimos Palheiros desse "bairro" foram demolidos, para ampliar e efectuar um arranjo urbanístico no Largo da Fonte, na Praia da Tocha.
Este terá sido possivelmente o único sobrevivente, uma vez que o seu proprietário terá arcado com o trabalho e as despesas de o transportar de lá, para o preservar. Agradeço ao "Manel", autor do "Blog do Manel", as informações que me facultou há uns anos sobre este Palheiro!
Nas fotos é visível a acção destrutiva do tempo e dos elementos sobre a madeira de que é feito, o que fará com que possivelmente este Palheiro não dure muitos mais anos.
The curious trip of the "last Palheiro" of Tocha Beach!
Here are some photos that I took, to what I think that is the "last of the original Palheiros" of Tocha Beach. As I mentioned in my previous post, there are still some "Palheiros" in Tocha Beach. However, almost all are, or modern replicas, or hybrid houses, with features of the transition between the old "Palheiros", and the modern houses.
Interestingly, this old "Palheiro" is not located in Tocha Beach. It lies in a agricultural field, west of Caniceira (village located in the civil parish of Tocha), some 7-8 kilometers away from the sea, and some 9 -10 kilometers away from his place of original construction, the old "Bairro dos Caniceiros", an ancient neighborhood in Tocha Beach.
A few years ago, the last "Palheiros" of this neighborhood were demolished, to expand and make an urban arrangement of the "Largo da Fonte" (means Square of the Fountain), in Tocha Beach.
This has been perhaps the only "survivor Palheiro", since his owner assumed the costs and the labor of the transportation, to preserve the "Palheiro". I want to thanks to "Manel", author of the "Blog of Manel", the informations he has given to me a few years ago, about this "Palheiro"!A few years ago, the last "Palheiros" of this neighborhood were demolished, to expand and make an urban arrangement of the "Largo da Fonte" (means Square of the Fountain), in Tocha Beach.
In the photos, we can see the damage caused by the time and by the elements of the weather, in the timber that the "Palheiro" is made. It is possible that this "Palheiro" will not last many more years.
