Boa sorte Poupinhas!

The young Hoopoe:

I present a few photos of a young Hoopoe (Upupa epops), taken a few days before the first flight to outside the nest. I don't really know if this young hoopoe is a male or a female.

The hoopoe was peeking the outside world and waiting for the mother hoopoe to bring food to him (or her?). He (or she?) was in the entrance of the nest, made in a hole of an adobe wall of an old traditional house, above a window.

These photos were taken in July of 2013, from my backyard, located in the Town of Tocha (in the Civil Parish of Tocha and Municipality of Cantanhede).

Three days after the date of the pictures, the hoopoe wasn't in the nest and i never saw her again, so i presume that the bird flew away, towards a new life. Good luck, hoopoe!
